Qisda: Prudently respond to tariff policies and evaluate other manufacturing locations such as Southeast Asia

Central News Agency | Local Language | News | May 9, 2025 | Regulation

Qisda Technology Chairman Chen Qi-hong announced that the company is taking a cautious approach in light of escalating global tariff issues. Qisda is evaluating manufacturing locations in Southeast Asia and other regions to better align with business characteristics and customer needs. The fluctuations in exchange rates, particularly the depreciation of the US dollar and the appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar, are expected to impact the company's profits.

During a legal briefing, Qisda General Manager Huang Hanzhou highlighted the uncertainty brought about by US tariff policies, which could affect the global market and supply chains. Establishing a robust supply chain is deemed essential for adapting to these changes. Looking towards the second quarter, Chen Qi-hong expressed optimism about revenue growth, primarily due to a temporary 90-day tariff exemption that has spurred customer purchasing activity.

Qisda anticipates steady performance in sectors such as IT, medical, and smart solutions, which are viewed as vital for future growth. The company plans to engage actively with customers through events such as the Taipei International Computer Show and AI application lectures to explore upcoming trends and opportunities. In the first quarter financial report, Qisda reported a revenue of NT$49.747 billion, up 6% year-on-year, while net profit attributed to the parent company rose 88% to NT$483 million, with earnings per share at NT$0.25.

Revenue performance varied across business segments, with display and smart solution revenues increasing by 10% and 8% year-on-year, respectively. However, the network communication business saw a 13% decrease in revenue, along with declines in profitability margins. Additionally, BenQ Hospital is progressing in its listing procedures following an announcement made after a hearing on April 11.
