Operation Sindoor: Pakistan a safe haven for terrorists, further attacks on India were also planned, says MEA

Pakistan has been characterized as a "haven for terrorists," according to India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, following India's military responses under Operation Sindoor. This operation was launched after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, including tourists. Misri emphasized that terrorists find refuge in Pakistan, which has failed to act against them, leading India to exercise its right to respond. He stated that intelligence indicated further planned attacks on India.
Operation Sindoor targeted nine terror-related sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, specifically focusing on groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Indian forces executed the strikes with precision, aiming to eliminate senior terrorist leaders while avoiding civilian infrastructure. The operation was framed as a measured response to the Pahalgam attack, which had drawn national grief and outrage, particularly due to the loss of Navy Lt. Vinay Narwal.
The military strikes have intensified tensions between India and Pakistan, disrupting air travel across northern India. Srinagar's airfield has been closed, with airlines like IndiGo and SpiceJet suspending services in affected regions. International airlines, including Qatar Airways, have also temporarily halted flights due to the closure of Pakistani airspace. In response to the operation, Pakistan has heightened its air force readiness, indicating it will respond at a time of its choosing.
